Mission Statement
To actively raise funds to support Thayer County Health Services in proving high quality compassionate care close to home. We will accomplish this by educating and inspiring individuals, businesses, and organizations to financially support their mission to improve the overall health of our region.
Who We Are…
The Foundation for Thayer County Health Services was organized on September 20, 1983, and established in 1984 as a non-profit 501(c)3 foundation by a group of nine Thayer County volunteer men and women who were determined to help the hospital (Thayer County Health Services) give quality care to the under-served population of both urban and rural Thayer County. The Foundation is governed by a board of 16 members who meet every other month to plan their fundraising events. All funds are used to help purchase needed new hospital equipment and support the hospital in order that the quality of care is maintained and improved.
In 1994 and 2004, the Foundation conducted successful capital campaigns to garner support for major hospital building projects. Each of these campaigns raised over $1,000,000 in support from patients and their families, physicians, board members, county alumni, employees, organizations, and businesses.
The outpouring of generosity from the local communities is why these campaigns were successful. Having strong community support is why Thayer County Health Services is a leader in rural healthcare, while other hospitals struggle to survive.
2015 Capital Campaign
On August 2, 2015, Thayer County Health Services broke ground on a $14.8 million hospital renovation and wellness project. Thanks to a generous gift of $6.9 million from the estate of
Glenn Korff, the project includes adding a new Rehabilitation and Wellness Center onto the north side of the hospital. A renovation of key areas of the hospital will follow this initial phase.
The start of this renovation and wellness project is an exciting new chapter in prevention and wellness for county residents. The renovations being made will position Thayer County Health Services to not only meet today’s healthcare challenges, but the future needs of Thayer County and the surrounding communities.
Investing in Healthier Tomorrows
To help fund the project, the Foundation is once again conducting a Capital Campaign,
Investing in Healthier Tommorrows. The goal for this campaign is to raise $1,000,000 to help fund Phase II of the project, the renovation of the kitchen and cafeteria. This phase will begin in the fall of 2016 and will allow us to meet state regulations and better serve patients, visitors, and staff.
The other renovations being made to the hospital will add to and further enhance the current services provided. Some of the key areas of the hospital that are being renovated include the emergency room, specialty clinic, the surgery center, and the labor & delivery room.
To date, the foundation has raised over $800,000 toward its goal of $1,000,000. In order for this campaign to be a success, we still need your help. If you would like more information on the renovation project or the campaign, contact
